How To Activate a New Wordpress Blog Theme
Question from a WordpressTutorials.com Member: How do you activate a new Wordpress blog theme after you upload the theme folder to your host account?
Here's a short video that explains how.
Sidebar: This is an experiment in creating, recording, saving and embedding video from Ustream.tv into my blog. If this works well, it cuts out a few steps and saves time
As always, I appreciate your feedback and comments.

Hi, Sherman -
I think that was an answer to me. The only thing is that the screen is so small that I couldn't really see what you were doing. But I'll try again.
I do get the default theme, but I couldn't see what you did to get the new one.
Thanks,
Jeanette

Click on the link or the image of the new theme, and it will activate the new theme for you

Hey, Sherman. Quick question on blogging and making money. A lot of sites out there pay bloggers to write, the amount earned varying with readership/site traffic (for example, see this article that lists sites that pay for blogging: http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/sites-that-pays-you-to-blog/). In your view, which is a better option for making money blogging: signing on to one of these pay-to-blog sites or developing your own blog site? What's your take?
Sherman Hu @ 2:25 am:
Michael, thanks for your comment.
It depends. Are you attempting to make additional revenue as a blogger, hence considering a paid gig to blog?
I would assume that its more hassle than worth it. Little pay, payment processing/scheduling hassles etc.
I would suggest developing your own blog/s, and generating revenues from it via affiliate/associate programs, physical/digital product sales, services etc.
Heck, I think you'd make more money faster setting up blogs for other business owners
Hope this helps!

Hi, Sherman. Thanks for the advice. I am thinking about blogging as an additional revenue stream, but you're right to say that these "pay to blog" places don't pay much. A friend of mine is blogging for Associated Content and gets only $1.50 per 1000 hits. It could add up if you have a massive readership, but it's very little money. And it's very little control over the sale of additional services/products when you're just one face among many, many bloggers writing for one mega-blogging outlet. Hmm…seems like doing your own thing is a better way.

Hello Sherman, nice tutorial. If it is ok, could I add somethings more. Occasionally, when uploading and activation a theme, you might encounter database errors, such as "certain elements/objects on line XX not found".
There is nothing to worry, this is just one of the instances whereby your Word-Press theme tries to reference the particular line from your database but is unable to find it. You can simply comment out the line from your particular theme files from where the error occurs and everything will turn out to all right.
Just my 2 cents….
